Why We're Different
There are many aspects about Darr Dentistry that set us apart from other dental practices. We are not the typical dental office. We are consistently investing back into our practice to implement current technology so that you have a positive experience every visit. Here are just a few ways that Darr Dentistry is different than other dental offices in Longview.
Cutting Edge Technology
We have the most advanced technologies that a dental office can have. This includes, but is not limited to, digital x-rays that appear instantly, digital impression taking for crowns, top of the line dental chairs and equipment, and intraoral cameras so you can be easily educated on the health of your teeth. To learn more about each technology, scroll below to read more.
Digital Impressions: Trios 3 Shape
In the past, a crown impression was taken using a thick, gagging material that was loaded onto a tray and put in the patient’s mouth until the material set up, which usually took 2-5 minutes. Our most recent addition to our office has been the Trios 3 digital scanner. With digital impressions, we are able to take a much more accurate and comfortable impression of your mouth just by taking a few digital scans of the tooth structure and the opposing arch. Once the information is captured, the computer then creates a 3-D model on the computer screen that the doctors can evaluate before sending it digitally to the laboratory. With a precise impression, the laboratory is able to make a better fitting restoration for the patient.
Digital X-Rays: Schick Sirona
Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and health of bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs. Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Our doctors utilize digital imaging technology within the office, which means that the exposure time is about 80 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information. The advantages of digital imaging enable us to not only store patient images, but also enable us to quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists or insurance companies. Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor and we are able to zoom in on questionable areas to get a better view, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. Digital X-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.
Top of the Line Equipment: A-dec
We use the best available dental equipment and materials to ensure comfort for our patients and a lasting result. From our comfortable chairs to our high end handpieces and restorative materials, you will definitely be able to see the difference.
Intraoral Cameras
Intraoral pictures are taken on every new and existing patient for many reasons. First, it is a very useful tool that allows you, the patient, to see exactly what we are seeing in your mouth and therefore allows you to be a part of the treatment planning process. Second, we can compare historical pictures to see changes in teeth and gums to evaluate if treatment may be necessary. Lastly, we can expedite the insurance claims by easily attaching an intraoral picture of the tooth or teeth being treated to relay to your insurance company the reason for treatment.
Cosmetic Dentistry with Biocompatible Restorations: Arrowhead Dental
We use one of the most talented laboratories in the nation to fabricate our restorations. They are biocompatible, have a warranty, and are made out of the best materials available today. Most of the restorations we do today are non-metal because of the natural and esthetic appearance they provide.
